Servant of the Lake Hidden Achievements Explained

Why Servant of the Lake hidden achievements are so easy to miss, the three trigger patterns behind them, and one Day 1 achievement most guides skip.

Servant of the Lake's 24 hidden achievements almost never show up in the task hints — you have to go out of your way, using an item in an unusual manner, deliberately solving part of a puzzle "incorrectly," inspecting an optional object, or acting before the story naturally advances. If you've finished a task and the notebook still shows a missing achievement next to it, this is almost always why.

The three trigger patterns

Every hidden achievement confirmed so far falls into one of three categories:

  • Unusual item use: using something for a purpose other than its obvious one — like roasting coffee beans before grinding them, instead of grinding them straight away.
  • Deliberate "wrong" choices: doing the opposite of what feels correct — feeding a finished bouquet to a goat to ruin it, rather than delivering it intact.
  • Persistent or timed interaction: repeatedly clicking a background element, or acting inside a narrow window before the story moves on — like reaching baby James with the champagne before William arrives.

Confirmed examples of each pattern

Ruining the Bouquet is a deliberate "wrong choice" achievement — see the flower puzzle page. Serving Matcha Latte is an unusual-item-use achievement with a specific step order — see the matcha latte page. Soothing the Baby is a timed achievement — see the soothing the baby page.

A Day 1 achievement most lists miss

Community sources spent the first week after launch mostly cataloguing the achievements that already had dedicated videos, and one from the very first task, "Preparing Breakfast," was still being tracked down after that initial wave: give the cat Rusty something to drink before handing over the usual dead mouse, rather than skipping straight to the mouse. Community hints pointed toward milk specifically as the item the cat responds to. If your Day 1 hidden-achievement count feels short, this early one is worth checking first.

Getting the ones you missed

Because chapter replay is available once you've finished the game, there's no need to restart from scratch to fix a missed achievement — replay the specific task from your notebook, and you'll be dropped right back into that scene to try again.

Steam doesn't publish the full trigger list

The total of 24 hidden achievements is a widely repeated community estimate, not something Steam's store page breaks out directly — only the overall total of 49 achievements is officially confirmed. Treat any specific hidden-achievement count as a well-supported estimate rather than an official figure.

Frequently asked questions

Why don't hidden achievements show any hints?

They're intentionally designed to reward going off-script — using an item unusually, choosing the 'wrong' option on purpose, or acting inside a timing window, none of which the game's normal prompts point toward.

Do I need to replay the whole game to catch missed hidden achievements?

No — once you've finished the game once, the notebook's chapter-replay feature lets you jump directly back into any completed task.

Is there a hidden achievement in the very first task of the game?

Yes — giving the cat something to drink (community hints point to milk) before feeding it the usual dead mouse during Preparing Breakfast.
